Ford Global Technologies, LLC has been issued a patent (U.S. Patent No. 10,737,577) for a method of determining and scheduling charge locations and times on a route for an electric vehicle based on the cost of charging and availability. The system also determines how long a vehicle should charge at a certain location.
The electric vehicle charging market size reached $3.8 billion in 2019 and is expected to hit $25.5 billion in 2027, according to Allied Market Research. A report released by the International Energy Agency stated there were 2.1 million electric vehicles sold globally in 2019, bringing the total stock to 7.2 million electric vehicles on the road.
