Darktrace Doubles its Patent Portfolio
Darktrace recently doubled its patent portfolio, adding 12 published patent applications in 2019. These new applications fall within the detection, prevention and protection, assessment, learning, and vulnerability sub-categories for the AI Cybersecurity sector.
Founded in 2013, Darktrace’s core system, the Enterprise Immune System, combines machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to generate a “pattern of life” for every network, device, and user associated with an organization. This “pattern of life” is used to create a model for “normal activity.” By evolving this model, the system is able to detect emerging threats in real-time.
Since its founding, Darktrace has since launched a new business unit, Darktrace Industrial, dedicated to eradicating threats in industrial and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control systems. In September of 2018, Darktrace reached unicorn status with a $1.65 billion valuation.
