BofA Introducing Real-Time Security Vulnerability Indicators for Users

Bank of America (BofA) has received a new patent for an information security vulnerability assessment system. The two-component system is able to detect security vulnerabilities for users, generate a coherent vulnerability level for the user in real-time, and provide user-specific mitigation actions depending on the vulnerability assessment. This is performed using a combination of an information threat assessment engine and an analytics engine.

BofA appears to be increasing user awareness of potential cybersecurity threats, falling in line with their new policy towards Zoom Video Communications Inc.’s conferencing application (requiring employees to first receive permission to use the app). Phishing attacks remain the most common means for attackers to gain entry into networks, so this technology should go a long way in reducing cybersecurity threats and attacks faced by the banking industry.
