Sony Unveils Crystal LED (CLED)
Sony recently revealed Crystal LED (CLED), its version of a Micro LED (MLED). Sony’s new CLED places the traditional RGB LED cluster at the center of a black cell, minimizing the reflections of ambient light and providing a wider viewing angle.
Sony’s CLED claims to produce 140% of standard Red Green Blue (sRGB), equaling around 100% of DCI/P3 color space. This CLED technology mimics the tiled display of MLED. However, as the technology is relatively new, the current cost per tile, or module, is around $10,000. At such a cost, it may be some time before the mass market will see any commercial traction.
