BOE Technology: Positioned to Become a Stronger Contender in the Display Market

With an escalating trade war between Japan and Korea, China’s BOE Technology is posed to become a strong contender in the display market. Currently, Samsung is the market leader in OLED display manufacturing. Samsung has reportedly been the exclusive supplier of OLED displays for Apple’s iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone Xs Max products. However, with the rising Japan-Korea trade war, Apple may be opting to expand its supply line to a minimum of two suppliers per component. 

BOE Technology has been expanding their patent activity in recent years. According to IFI Claims, BOE is the 17th largest US patent assignee with 16% growth in filings between 2017 and 2018.
