Akamai Rolls Forward

Massachusetts-based Akamai Networks has been slowly growing their IP portfolio, and has become the largest patent holder in the edge computing space. Notably, the company has been increasing their filings that teach blockchain aspects of edge computing technologies, and this week received their first issued patent that teaches blockchain and metering aspects. Is metering the use of edge computing power what the top patent holder in the space sees as the future?

Akamai provides companies with an intelligent edge platform that brings them increased digital security (24/7/365 monitoring). The Akamai Edge includes security, web and mobile performance, enterprise access, and video-delivery solutions.

Last month, Akamai announced it is adding support for serverless computing functions to its EdgeWorkers framework, which allows applications to be executed on the edge of the Akamai content delivery network.
