Delivering blood in Ghana with drones

Zipline International, an American startup that delivers blood and medical supplies via drones, will begin operating in Ghana in April 2019. With its recent success in Rwanda, the company signed a performance driven contract with the government of Ghana to operate four distribution centers in the country. The revolutionary new service will use drones to make on-demand, emergency deliveries of life-saving medications to over 2,000 health facilities across the country. Patent data further show Zipline‘s commitment to safer operations of UAVs in a shared airspace using a decentralized air traffic management system.
