Progress in Drone-Based Communication Networks

Veniam and other corporations appear to be making progress in developing drone-based communication networks. Utilizing drones as mobile nodes for wireless network architecture has been on the drawing board for a while, and with the issuance of several patents to Veniam and other organizations like the Google subsidiary X-Development, a drone-based wireless network appears to be coming closer to fruition. Such a development would provide incredible flexibility in creating and maintaining wireless networks in areas where coverage has traditionally been difficult or impossible. The flexibility of a drone-based network architecture also lends itself to multiple applications where smaller or movable networks may be desired. Advances in drone-based wireless networks will help increase connectivity around the globe.
