New Drone Bill Would Extend Private Property to 200 FT
Senator Lee (R-Utah) is proposing to put the airspace up to 200 feet over private property under the control of the property owner, restricting the FAA’s right to regulate airspace to 200 feet and above. Also, the bill proposes that the zoning or regulatory decisions for this space is the right of the state or tribal entity governing the land. This proposed law will create additional demand for geo-fencing but also more inconvenience for delivery drones. On the other hand, Amazon, which is turning geo-fencing into a delivery tool (see patents), may actually benefit from this new legislation.
