Complex Cannabinoid Mixtures for Treating Neurodegenerative Diseases

GBS Global BioPharma Inc. of Ontario, Canada received a patent (US Pat. No. 10,653,640) this week for a complex cannabinoid mixture for treating neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

A main cannabinoid (CBD or CBN) is mixed with a minor cannabinoid (cannabichromene, cannabigerol, and cannabidivarin) and terpenes (limonene, linalool, nerolidol, pinene, and phytol) along with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

Cannabinoids can target mechanistic pathways of Parkinson’s disease as well as have beneficial effects on the mitochondria by acting as an antioxidant and decreasing oxidative stress.

The therapeutic benefits of cannabinoids are still being studied and harnessed. Take a look at patents and patent applications for cannabinoid supplements and medications with a subscription to Magic Number’s Cannabis Patent Forecast®.
