Nanit Raises $21 Million For Baby Monitors
New York-based startup Nanit raised $21 million in a recent round of financing from existing investors while reporting that social distancing requirements of the COVID-19 pandemic have actually increased profits. Nanit’s baby monitors use machine learning to track babies’ sleep patterns and provide that information to parents or caregivers. In addition to selling the physical monitors, the company also offers a subscription-based app to process and save the data. As people are forced to spend more time apart for public health reasons, Nanit is seeing a large portion of app users to be extended family members such as grandparents.
Nanit is a trademark of Udisense, which has 10 published patent documents in the sleep technology space. Nanit also recently launched infant wearables for sleep tracking, which was preceded by a 2018 filing for an infant respiration monitor.
