Pot Wheels: Bridgestone’s Patent for a Rubber Containing Hemp Oil
Burning rubber might take on a whole new meaning with the roll out of pot wheels… All jokes aside, Bridgestone has been tinkering with the addition of hemp oil into rubber for improving tire durability since 2014. A recent patent (10435542) adds to this patent family claims of improving the tear resistance of tire tread. Hemp has found its way into many industries such as textiles, fuel generation, and food and drug among others and will continue to be explored for its seemingly endless amounts of uses.
