Blackberry comeback?
QNX Software Systems, acquired by BlackBerry in 2010, now has its QNX operating system in 150 million cars and is looking to help its expansion in transportation by influencing policy. Jeff Davis, the new senior director for connected transportation, had the company join various trade groups and is monitoring policymaking in D.C., which is crucial to the company’s goal of being a major player in connected transportation.
QNX provides a commercial Unix-like, real-time operating system, aimed primarily at the embedded systems market. Their recent patent is directed to managing power consumption for mobile devices by controlling data transmission.
