Amazon’s blimp, but in military form

AeroVironment is partnering with Kratos to integrate small unmanned systems and tactical missiles with high-speed, low-cost drones. The goal is for the deployment of large quantities of smart systems to overwhelm and disable enemy systems. Albeit designed for military applications, this is reminiscent of Amazon’s blimp patent, both of which involve a larger UAV carrying smaller UAVs across great distances and conserving energy. AeroVironment has numerous issued patents in the UAV sector, primarily focused on flight control and navigation. However, as a defense contractor, it also has several patents directed to military applications, making the company suitable for this partnership.
