Cannabis-Enhanced Simulations Could Help Treat Various Psychological Disorders

An interesting patent application was published in December 2021 teaching a therapy process for psychological disorders utilizing a cannabinoid composition and an augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) experience. U.S. Patent Publication No. 2021/0383713 assigned to Ojai Energetics, PBC is the first of its kind application for the treatment of a health condition using cannabis in conjunction with AR/VR. Similar disclosures can be seen in literature on psychedelics.

The process aims to reprogram one or more cells in a subject, modify, epigenetically, a polynucleotide of the subject, or cause a change in the subject’s neural network. This process would be used to treat psychological disorders such as PTSD, major depressive disorder, anxiety, etc., assisting the individual in understanding and overcoming their disorder, just as psychedelics can be used for.

Ojai Energetics primarily focuses on providing stabilized, water-soluble cannabinoids, so this application comes as a surprise. In the past, Ojai Energetics has partnered with companies like LIFEAID Beverage Co.® to incorporate its water-soluble CBD into LIFEAID’s beverage products. It is unclear if Ojai Energetics has plans to reduce patent publication ‘713 to practice as it has made no mentions of it. This application brings Ojai Energetics to a total of 3 granted patents and 8 pending applications that can be found in the ‘Compositions,’ ‘Medications,’ and ‘Disposal’ categories of the Cannabis Patent Forecast®.
